Excellent finale.

But. )

Two-parter reactions posted together later. I gotta go to work now - I'm going in early to make sure everything will run smoothly without our boss.

Just one question regarding "The Stolen Earth," because I really need to catch an hour's sleep or so before work:

How on EARTH is RTD going to write his way out of this one?!

I'm terrible at letting things end. The closer we get to the end of series four, the slower I am to actually watch the episodes.

I do this all the damn time. I've done it with Doctor Who before - when I didn't watch "Voyage of the Damned" until a few days before series four started - I did it with Jeeves and Wooster (I still haven't watched the last two episodes), and I did it with HP.

(Confession: I haven't read book seven. No, I don't know how HP ends.)

*sighs* I'm going to have to get over this thing sooner or later. Really. I should. It's sort of ridiculous to keep leaving books and TV shows unread and unwatched, just so they won't be over.

I got a sick day off! Thrilling, except for the part where I don't feel so hot. In reality, I probably could have worked if I'd forced myself. But oh god, I needed a break so bad for some reason (I've been dragging so badly that I keep falling asleep no matter what I'm trying to do or catch up on - I almost fell asleep on my break yesterday), so I'm grateful that the Boss's Daughter is closing for me tonight.

I've been so tired recently that I didn't even watch Doctor Who Saturday. OR Sunday. Finally managed to today. Back to regular point-form notes. That full-sentence, full-paragraph thing for the last two episodes was utterly exhausting.

(And I SWEAR I'll post something that's not Who-related sometime soon. Really. I will. I have about a half-dozen posts bouncing around in my mind right now. Problem is, I lack the energy to post ANY of them.)

[I'm backdating this some, since it basically counts as spam at this point.]

God, it sucks not always getting Mondays off work. If I know I get Monday off, I can just not sleep Saturday night and write my episode reactions all up then knowing I'll just come home after work Sunday and crash. There's practically no motivation to do it AFTER Sunday, when everyone's moved on, but I like to be consistent like that.

Plus I should probably get my own thoughts down before I EXPLODE, because all the negative reactions to this episode are getting on my nerves so badly I'm likely to say something I'll regret soon.

Dear Who fandom: CAN YOU FUCKING ENJOY ANYTHING?!? GOD I HATE YOU ALL.

Anyway. "Forest of the Dead."

Yes, Moffat can have unlimited playtime in the sandbox again.

I guess I'll stop being so damned lazy and finally get around to posting this (because there's nothing like taking two page of notes BY HAND and not doing anything with them):

My blow-by-blow thoughts on the eighth Doctor Who episode this series, Silence in the Library. Written in actual paragraphs and such this time. Only for Moffat (even if he's made me all nervous this time around).

Okay, this episode was pretty awesome. I was terribly afraid because "the Doctor's daughter" looked so VERY Mary Sue-ish, but she's redeemable. They didn't do too bad a job, consider how horrible this COULD have been.

(ETA: This took longer to type up than I expected, but I swear I will get to comments later tonight.)

Just finished watching, "The Ark In Space," from the Fourth Doctor's era. I also watched, "Inferno," from the Third Doctor's era a while back. But since that was the only other Classic Who story I've watched I could only compare it to NuWho, and the contrasts are huge.

Now I can compare them to each other! The fun never stops around here.

Just some random thoughts about Three, Four, Ten and their respective eras:

Inferno )

The Ark In Space )

The Fourth Doctor, though! I was concerned I might not like him. Mainly because he's such a well-loved version, I suspected I might end up hating him out of spite.

But nope! I like him bunches already. Mainly because - and ooh, this would make some people sputter - he reminds me so much of Ten. Which I know is just a bit backwards, but hey, I saw Ten BEFORE Four, so it makes sense to me.

People have said that David Tennant borrows most from the Fourth and Fifth Doctors in his own performance, and now it's retrospectively obvious where he's been channeling Four. He's got a lot of similar physical mannerisms that he gives Ten, like the pop-eyed toothy grin and the excited exclamations from the back of his throat. Which is full of win, and now I can't wait to see what parts of the Fifth Doctor he's channeling, too.

There's just one major problem with starting to get more into Classic Who, though: NOW, when I read fanfic, I hear Ten's lines in Tom Baker's voice!

Which is, oh god, DO NOT WANT. MAKE IT STOP.

I really hope that side effect goes away, or fanfic will be forever ruined.

Whoo-hoo, Doctor Who was good this week!

The usual blow-by-blow (and I know nobody reads this, but I actually do get satisfaction from doing this...total geek, yeah):

Well, don't just stand there! )

Regarding the preview )
beandelphiki: Animated icon of the TARDIS from the British television show, "Doctor Who." ([DW] Ten & Donna - nevermind us)
I really had to FORCE myself to sit down and watch this episode. I wasn't sure why at first, but when I thought about it for about...oh...a nanosecond...I realized it's because of the immediate return of a certain someone. And I just...didn't want to see that.

It's not that I have anything against ANY of the Doctor's previous companions (that I've seen thus far); it's just that I was really digging the relationship the Doctor and Donna have been building the last few episodes, and I don't want ANYONE else sticking their nose in it. I knew it was coming, but by the fourth episode? Why so soon?

But, well. I made myself watch it anyway, because c'mon, I look forward to this show all week. I have to watch it now.

So who DID put a dent in the 1980s? )

And if it wasn't obvious from that note about UNIT's music, I downloaded the 2005/2006 soundtrack Friday night. I can tell it's going to be on continuous repeat in my player for a while.

Notes for the new Doctor Who episode (probably mostly uninteresting to anyone but myself, SPOILERS obviously). I took these while watching, so this can mostly be seen as following my thought process, not a summary of my reactions.

S4x03 - 'The Planet of the Ood' )

Got my grandfather's 70th birthday to go to today, so I got the day off work. I haven't slept yet, so just imagine what exciting things I'll be doing when we come home.
beandelphiki: Animated icon of the TARDIS from the British television show, "Doctor Who." (HUGS TIEM NAO PLZ?)
Why are the Ood even freakier the second time around? I don't HAVE a sofa to hide behind in our computer nook, dammit!

Yes, I am a massive wimp. I almost walked out of Sixth Sense, people. I think Doctor Who is almost too much for me.

Why are there so few lights in this room?!
beandelphiki: Animated icon of the TARDIS from the British television show, "Doctor Who." ([DW] Ten & Donna - adventure!)
Ugh, I didn't sleep at ALL last night. Not a bit. I might as well have stayed up and read Doctor Who forums or something. My eyes feel about as gritty as if I did.

Anyway, the episode! SPOILERS AHOY!

'I'm waving at fat!' )
beandelphiki: Animated icon of the TARDIS from the British television show, "Doctor Who." (coolest thing EVAR)
Just finished watching my mother's taped copy of the Doctor Who two-parter that recently aired.

OMG.

"The Family of Blood"?

FUCKING AWESOME EPISODE.

And I think I may finally understand why some people think David Tennant is hot.

Cutting this because it may be a wee bit spoilerish, and I don't know for sure that this one has aired in the U.S. yet )

SO. Yes. I will be needing screencaps and transcripts.

And to catch up more, because I've only watched up to "Dalek" in whichever series-thingie has the Ninth. (Okay, Wikipedia calls it Series 1, but I seem to have a mental block going on here, because it cannot be the first anything after EIGHT preceding Doctors. That just makes NO SENSE.)

It's hard to watch around my work schedule. Gah, fitting in a HAIRCUT is almost impossible, but I also did that today. Along with (I think) kicking a bug that was about to sink its teeth into my immune system.

Witness my accomplishments.
