[DW] Ep. S4x11 - "Turn Left"

I'm terrible at letting things end. The closer we get to the end of series four, the slower I am to actually watch the episodes.
I do this all the damn time. I've done it with Doctor Who before - when I didn't watch "Voyage of the Damned" until a few days before series four started - I did it with Jeeves and Wooster (I still haven't watched the last two episodes), and I did it with HP.
(Confession: I haven't read book seven. No, I don't know how HP ends.)
*sighs* I'm going to have to get over this thing sooner or later. Really. I should. It's sort of ridiculous to keep leaving books and TV shows unread and unwatched, just so they won't be over.
-DoctorDonna in a market! This is the kind of thing this whole universe is built on. I love it endless amounts.
-NOOO, Donna, don't let the Doctor out of your sight! *panics* Geezus, you'd think they'd learn.
-So we pretty much get everything we guessed about Donna's past explicitly confirmed. And what's with the creepy lady?
-"City executives don't need temps - except for practice." "Yeah...well, they haven't met me." *love*
-Was, "there's something on your back," only in reference to the future? Or does it have a double meaning?
-"The Doctor is dead." ...Worst moment of the series, ever. I know it's temporary, and it's still the worst moment ever.
-"I came so far..." Okay, I feel a little sorry for Rose. Although I'm glad she's not totally broken up and bawling that her Tvu Wuv is dead. Also, she's got a really obvious lisp or something at the moment. Did she always have that? Is it because she's mumbling most of her lines?
-There was never any implication that Rose is psychic, but she can also sense something on Donna's back? Why? Who are the people who can tell?
-LOL at Donna throwing a fit over being fired. "Did you get someone else to type this?!"
-So...we're going through all the events of series three now? But if the Doctor's not alive, he doesn't meet Martha, so they don't go to the end of the world, so the Master doesn't - NO, WAIT. If the Doctor's not alive, he doesn't stop the shape-shifter being from building that weapon from the MRI machine, so - NO, WAIT. If the Doctor's not alive, the alien doesn't get caught, so - NO, WAIT. I'm confused. What's happening, again?
-"Don't tell me. The hospital's back. Well, isn't that wizard." I'm giggling like a lunatic now.
-...Martha's dead. Sacrificed her last air anyway, fat lot of good it did her. Why is everyone dead this time? I seem to remember them running out of air LAST time, but everyone survived. Buh?
-"Well, at least you got a hole punch." *dies* Wilf's exasperation here is so necessary.
-"To be honest, I've given up on you." Any love I had for Sylvia after, "The Poison Sky," just completely died.
-...Sarah Jane and the kids from the Adventures? I DON'T WANT TO WATCH ANYMORE. What's next, Jack's not immortal anymore? The Titanic comes down on top of Ian and Barbra's house?!
-So Rose knows about the raffle ticket, so Donna must meet up with her in the future and warn her about everything...?
-"Your Dad would have loved this." Interesting that only in the alternate version of Donna's life do we get explicit mention of her father dying. And, I see Donna's not stubborn enough not to follow Rose's advice.
-OF COURSE the first person who actually tell Donna what she has on her back doesn't speak English. And Donna could actually see it for a second, couldn't she? So why does she just shrug it off to go look at the television? She didn't know how serious it was, but she still stops trying to find the spider on her back.
-"You're not going to make the world any better by shouting at it." "I can try." Oh, god, I love Donna.
-I love the guy in their new place! "I go wake Mama, she loves new people!" I lol'ed hysterically at this part. ("Big house, room for everyone!" "We live in the kitchen?!")
-"God bless America!" Cue America collapsing...?
-...INTO FAT. JESUS CHRIST, RTD, NOT THE FAT BABIES. The downfall of the American Empire in the new, Doctor-less age: TWINKIES.
-"Every day, I think of someone else." I can't help thinking is this the world RTD honestly envisions coming about in the Whoniverse without the Doctor...that this planet (and probably many others) would simply fall apart? It's a rather startling view, a very pessimistic view of humanity's place in the universe. (Which is not to say that I disagree with the idea that humanity is NOT actually possessed of enviable fortitude, it's just not something I expected to see from RTD.)
-"If I hear one more SEA SHANTY..." I was nearly expecting Donna to get them kicked out until Wilf waved. HAH.
-ATMOS. Ohhh, shit, forgot that. I was hoping with Luke Rattigan dead, we could skip over that part, but I guess since the Matron could find an even FATTER country to have her babies in, the Sontarans could find another way to distribute ATMOS.
-The Torchwood team. Saw THAT coming.
-"I think you dream about him sometimes. 'S a man in a suit? Tall, thin man, great hair. Some...really great hair." Oh my god, yes, great hair.
-So Donna's the most important woman in creation because she was there at the right moment, with her attitude, and she saved the Doctor. TAKE THAT, DONNA HATERS. Also, I'm gleeing over this being the ultimate outcome of the original, "nothing special," line. And I'm amused at the whole writing team here retconning this entire 'verse like that.
-"Sorry...so sorry...but you're going to die." Meaning she's not, I'm assuming. Because I already called it like that.
-Wilf knows what, "labour camps," means. The little moment the two men share there is totally heartbreaking.
-And Donna running down the street! Fuck, I cried.
-I still hate Sylvia. I can't believe she can't see what an amazing and courageous daughter she truly has.
-LOL THE STARS ARE GOING OUT. Did RTD actually ever PASS any science classes? ASTRONOMY FAIL. Oh well, let's just go with it.
-...Do all of the Doctor's companions turn into...well...him? (We even got the sledgehammer hint of, "don't salute.") Rose is definitely that strange woman her mother predicted. Not sure what to think of that. She seems QUITE a bit older here (not visibly, just in her attitude), so how long has she been working for her version of Torchwood?
-Well, Donna's reaction to the TARDIS is fairly similar. Just not as extreme, considering she's not had her wedding day ruined, and she's had a lot of prep with the world collapsing.
-"Still trying to help." Oh, poor TARDIS.
-That's not a damn spider on her back, that's A FUCKING BEETLE. The hell?!
-They don't just need the Doctor, they need DoctorDonna. That's the best fucking thing ever.
-And can I say, Rose is more Doctor here than the Doctor is, and I'm really not sure that's a good thing. Donna is shaking with terror because she's just discovered she's a host to some hostile alien creature feeding off her timeline, and Rose is grinning. WE'RE GETTING FASCINATING READINGS FROM YOU.
-"It's a time machine?" "It's a time machine." Just not bigger on the inside.
-"We're just guessing." Reassuring, innit?
-"I'm half a mile away!" GOOD OLE TARDIS.
-...The moment Donna realises what she has to do to change time. Even Pete Tyler had time to adjust to the idea. *hugs Donna*
-Okay, so...creepy lady remains unexplained? Who the hell IS she, anyway? Just some random woman in a market who lives off other people's timeline energy brought to her via her pet time!beetle? The hell?
-JESUS, I've never been so happy to see the Doctor onscreen. Holy crap, I feel like I'VE spent two years living in a kitchen.
-"It's like there's something binding us together." OTP. Q.E.D. *blows a raspberry*
-BAD WOLF RETURNS.
Preview:
Companion palooza indeed. That's all I can say. RTD has scrapped "epic" and gone for "epic epicness." If he actually pulls this off, he might impress me yet. (YES I KNOW. I wanted to end on a hopeful note.)
