Pro-WHAT?!?!?!

Give me a break.
[Before I get going on this rant, allow me one caveat; I don't support abortion as a form of BIRTH CONTROL. Thank you.]
So, yeah, let's see...
Whenever I get into an argument with someone about abortion in rl, they usually end up asking me how I feel about the idea that I could have been aborted. (RL arguments go so much faster, though.) I thought I'd address that first.
My mother had me when she was 19 years old. I'm sure a least a couple of people told me to abort her. Yup, I could have been aborted. I might not be here right now! What a concept to contemplate!
I mean, think about it...if I had been aborted:
I wouldn't have lived hand-to-mouth in a little roach-infested white-trash apartment.
I wouldn't have had abusive parents.
I wouldn't have been a complete social outcast for the first 9 years of my schooling.
I wouldn't have been molested.
I would never have had to be cold in the winter when we couldn't afford warmer clothes.
I would never have attended a crappy lower-end school.
I wouldn't have ever been depressed, or dropped out.
I wouldn't be dealing with gender issues.
How lucky I am to be alive!
[/sarcasm]
I should have been aborted. I've said that many a time to people in rl, and I'll keep right on saying it. I stand by that firmly.
As for abortion, I would abort any kid I got pregnant with, and I have many, many reasons.
Reason 1 - Adoption is a Crapshoot
Pretty plain and simple, right? I would not send a kid off to some stranger, and never know what was happening in their lives, or if they were suffering the same abuse I did.
I also would not trust open adoption. I've seen my parents convince other adults they are saints. So fuck that.
Reason 2 - Various Trans Issues
I would never, ever, under any circumstances, have vaginal sex with a man. Therefore, in order to get pregnant, I would have to be raped.
So,
1) I don't consider any child to come from that to be my responsibility.
2) I don't care about any "right to life." That's fucking bullshit. I have a right not to be violated, as does everyone.
I will not be pregnant and live as a pregnant woman. I made this decision two years ago, and I'll never go back on it.
I will never risk birthing hips. Period.
Someone called this selfish; well, guess what? What's a human fetus? A parasite, baby. Takes, but doesn't give. I don't need no parasites.
...Selfish? It would destroy me, mentally, to carry a child. How the fuck is it selfish to know your limits and follow them? Those are the actions of a wise man.
...And cowardly? (Second charge.) Christ...see above.
Reason 3 - Financial Concerns
My parents were children when they had me. They had no money. As I said before, we live with roaches in our food. I'm not trying to play this up, it's just a fact. All I heard throughout my childhood was an endless litany of, "we can't afford it"s.
When and if I'm a parent, I will NEVER put my child through that. I want my kid to have opportunities. To learn to play a musical instrument if they want. Take lessons in something. Play sports - and some are expensive.
I want to send my kids to a good school. I want them to have warm clothes when they need it. And I will not compromise.
...I've said it once; I'll say it again. Better a short, painless death than a long miserable life.
Over, out.
Give me a break.
