Well, today went as well as it could.

I got up early for an ortho (oh joy!). Amazingly, I wasn't too tired, even after being totally unable to fall asleep until 3 a.m., and I even got up when I wanted to.

My ortho didn't take long, my teeth STILL don't hurt...I'm shocked. Another high point: when the assistant came to call on me, she called my birth name and I didn't even notice. I used to flinch whenever I heard someone say "Danielle," but not today. So she assumes she got it wrong and says, "Oh, I mean..is it Daniel? So sorry!" HA, that's the first time that has happened! For once I got to leave the waiting room without the grim knowledge that I was being stared at.

Of course, then she ruined it by asking me what grade I'm going into next year. "Uh...college."

Then, after the ortho mom and I went to go take my CD player to the Sony people to be fixed (the play button won't work) and then we went shopping for school supplies.

I now am the proud owner of a spiffy pair of Grade 1 steel-toed boots. My very first pair. Yup, I am so proud I could burst.

It took us FOREVER to find me a pair, though. We had to resort to women's and even then we had a hard time, because my feet are long but so incredibly narrow. (Canoes, mom calls 'em.) The woman helping me find a pair told me that lots of smaller guys have to wear women's, but it's all the same design, so no one can tell. I begged to differ, I could tell, but we found a pair I thought looked acceptably masculine. I just need to wear thick cotton work socks inside, and they don't even slip.

Then we were off to find drafting supplies, but no luck this time around. Staples is supposed to carry them, but the only thing of quality we found was their T-squares. They didn't even have decent compasses or lead holders. Just flimsy plastic things that junior high kids buy for math class. So much for the, "we'll avoid the expensive drafting store" idea.

Then on to, YAY, Canadian Tire for ear plugs, safetey goggles, a measuring tape, a MAG flashlight (with belt holster!) and safetey gloves, although we passed on the gloves because they only had suede and I need leather (it's more durable.)

The only thing I didn't like getting was the safetey goggles. Damn things NEVER fit over my glasses, no matter what. >.<

Then just over a few stores to Home Depot for duct tape, since I am FOREVER in need of duct tape. We could have got that at Canadian Tire, of course...but we forgot until we were in the checkout line. Heh, oops.

PLUS I took the opportunity at both stores to get job applications! I'm so proud of myself; I feel like I did something RIGHT for once!

Apparently, you have to be 18 to work at Home Depot. That's okay, I'll wait a month to apply, if I'm not already at Canadian Tire. Funny, the woman asked me if I'm over 18, and my automatic answer was, "Yes." It seems that the automatic lie carries over from the internet into real life.

Ahhhhh. There are good things about being a human being, and walking into a hardware store is one of them. I live for the smell of tools and lumber.

Not fun stuff...my 'puter crashes every time I try to edit the style I created, dammit.

My scrollbar looks fucking ugly at the moment, I can't fix it AND my cursor commands won't work and I don't know enough CSS to know what's wrong.

Ah, fuck, there goes a good day.

Sure, you can use it. Can you get it off my journal? Cause otherwise I could email you the file or something.

I got it off some site for free backgrounds, but be damned if I can remember where now.

My dad's name is Daniel, has been from birth. People are >always< pronouncing it as Danielle. I think it's just a Daniel curse.

True, and when I lived in Montreal as a very small child my parents had to constantly correct people. When they said my name is "Danielle" people assumed that they meant "Daniel" with a French accent. They always had to correct legal documents and tell people "No, our child is FEMALE."

My problem is that my legal name currently IS Danielle.

Lucky you, you have narrow feet :( I have big feet --_--'

Size 9.....MENS. I can't find ANY good shoes, because I can't wear the ones with the dip in the back because they rub out my ankles in less than a day.

Size 8 1/2 mens here. But that's only on length, my feet are SO narrow most women's shoes don't fit.

Can you give me the code for a crosshair cursor? I can't get the CSS to work, and you said you know it.
