Behind the cut, there is the following:

1. A trailer screencap from the upcoming Doctor Who episode, "The Unicorn and the Wasp." So it's spoilerish, naturally, although it's a pretty minor spoiler.

2. An image (same one) which has apparently caused much of Livejournal's DW fanbase to throw up in their mouths a little.

3. Squee and bitching about Rosefen.

4. CAPSLOCK. DUE TO AFOREMENTIONED SQUEE.

Seriously, you HAVE been warned. Even if you click and this image makes your cat piss herself in fright and try to claw her own eyes out to escape the horror, I DON'T CARE and would appreciate not hearing about it.

DOCTORDONNA LIPLOCK. YAY OMG YAY NEXT EPISODE CAN'T WAIT!

I've seen this screencap before, and I've been anxiously waiting to see which episode this is. This is the only companion I've ever actually WANTED to see the Doctor snog; although only because no matter what the reason is for it, it's going to be HILARIOUS and awkward and awful and STRANGELY HOT and fanfic fodder for days and days and days. Unless they ruin it somehow, although I can't imagine how. The Doctor and Donna don't exactly have a fragile relationship.

ALSO. I've come to the conclusion that, generally speaking, DoctorDonnaFriendsWithBenefits fans >>>>> Doctor/Rose fans. Because we actually don't WANT the fabric of the universe torn apart so our pairing can be emo over each other, thankyouverymuch.

WE'D JUST LIKE THEM TO BE AWESOME AND SHAG MORE OKAY.

WHEN ROSE SHOWS UP AGAIN CAN SOMEONE SHOOT HER ON SIGHT PLZKTHAX. (MOOD THEME IMAGE IS IRONIC Y/Y?)

YAY SNOG YAY.

I love being spoiled for something I know almost nothing about. ;D

Actually, I'm starting to get a little hooked on David Tennant. I think it's his hair (and, you know, the whole Doctor thing, and me being a million years behind my core childhood television fandom).

I thank my flist. *gives flowers*

Er. Yes. I like his hair, too. And it helps that he's a really good actor. (Except when he tries to do the Righteous Rage thing. He never quite manages the Righteous Rage thing.)

Considering he's a preacher's kid (or so I've heard), that's really a little odd.

Well, he does have fantastic hair, yeah. And being the Doctor, because who isn't just a little bit in love with the Doctor?

Personally, I (shallowly) decided he was going to be my fave Doktah evar during that moment in, "New Earth," where you can first clearly see he's got little freckles.

Which is bizarre, because I am otherwise totally indifferent to freckles. I'm still trying to puzzle that one out.

YAY SNOG.

David Tennant snogging is ALWAYS pretty, and him being the tenth Doctor and snogging Donna might just implode my brain. Even though in the cap it looks more like Donna's snogging the Doctor than the other way 'round. (And we all know that's what it would be like. Donna pwns.)

I DON'T WANT ROSE IN MY DONNA SERIES. I DON'T WANT ANY OTHER COMPANIONS IN MY DONNA SERIES. Seriously. They all got a series to their own; Rose even had two. Why can't Donna have her 13 episodes to herself?

Obviously!

Someone pointed out that his suit is all dirty (if that's not a trick of the light). So...people have said this looks like an attempt to hide somehow. Alternatively, it could be something as contrived as a "genetic transfer."

But I wonder if he's just escaped death/regeneration and/or saved someone's small, lame child life? And she's kissing him in overwhelmed relief? You know, that kind of, OMGYOU-SLASH-THEYAREN'TDEAD-oh, um - kind of kiss. She's already hit him, so they might try a different angle on her being pleased he's not roadkill.

Or, I dunno, I could be completely wrong. That explanation really doesn't seem to fit with the people in the background who are kinda, "BZUH?"

(Can you tell I'm thinking about this too much?)

...I know. :( I mean, I'm sure I'll end up liking most of it; I always do. But it's a shame Donna doesn't get more time with the Doctor just to herself.

Still, no idea who Donna is. She seems very popular.

I'm all on board with watching the Doctor snog anybody at all, though. Yay!

Have you guys seen all of series one and two yet? Because the christmas special after series two introduces her. It's called, "The Runaway Bride." (But if you don't know how series two ends, it'll spoil that a little.) She was a one-off character originally, but she's back this series.

(A lot of people didn't like her in it. They thought she shouted too much. But her character was under a lot of stress in that special. The "real" Donna is most visible at the end of it, if you get a chance to see it.)

And I was just saying this the other day to someone else on my list, but Donna seems very polarizing. Apparently, outside of lj fandom, tons of people hate her. I have NO idea why, I think she's amazing.

We just watched the last episode of the third ... season, I'd call it, why is everyone saying series? Is that a british thing? OMG the Face of Boe! Ahahahaha. <3

Um, what was I saying... the runaway bride? Seriously? Cause I was so relieved she didn't go with him at the end of that. Partly because I was still upset at losing Rose (I didn't like Martha, either, until the last couple episodes with her) and partly just because she was dumb as toast. And yeah, I thought she was useless a good part of that, but she did show a lot of pluck towards the end. Still, dumb. Though probably all humans are stupid by Time Lord standards, and the Doctor loves us anyway, so maybe that's not such an issue for him.

Also, yeah, I think the way you eat fries is weird and gross. And apparently Europeans also do the mayo thing, so you're not alone in the world. *shudders*

Oh, noooo, you don't like Donna, either?! *sad panda* Donna is truly my all-time fave Who character besides the Doctor, so it just makes me sad when people don't like her.

Well. Like I said, the majority of people (it seems, anyway) in lj's DW fandom did not like her character in "Runaway Bride," but a very large number of those people have done a 180 since series four started airing. So maybe you'll like her when/if you get to series four?

(And yes, "series" is British for "season," although they also apparently use "series" in the sense of, "a TV series" like we do here. I have NO idea why, but I try to keep it straight just because I snicker at British fans referring to the House seasons by "series."

Maybe I could make you guys discs of the eps as they air or something? Since I've now FINALLY gotten the process of burning them to disc down successfully.)

And my TL;DR comments on Donna (I won't cry if you skip TL;DR about a character you don't like, though):

Thing is...on paper, the whole design of Donna's character was a trainwreck disaster from the word go. It's like someone with about ten brain cells sat down and said, "Well, gosh! That last episode of series two was really kinda depressing, huh? So for Christmas, we'll go for a bit more levity. We'll bring in a comedian known for her polarizing style of playing obnoxious characters, and write her an obnoxious character to bug the Doctor with! That'll be funny and cheer everyone up!"

And I think it was an ENORMOUS mistake to have Donna appear on the TARDIS moments after the end of the series two. Had we gotten the sense that the Doctor had had some time to himself to mourn, people MIGHT have forgiven her character a bit more. As it is, she appeared while he was practically mid-sob. I don't know HOW no one realized that this would instantly make the audience resent and even loathe Donna deeply.

So yeah, Donna can come off at first as a shallow-minded, self-centered harpy of a woman. The Doctor's agony easily eclipses Donna's though the first half of the episode, and by the point we see that Donna is being truly (and very unjustly) hurt, a lot of people had decided that they didn't care. Even her own closest family doesn't seem to like her much (until we meet her grandad in series four, anyway), and really - she might be a tad obnoxious sometimes, but she's NOT a bad person. Her wedding (which she probably imagined would get her out of a string of dead-end jobs and a dead-end life) turns out to be, not just ruined, but a set-up so she can be fed to a giant alien spider. Could the universe have given one ordinary human a more dismissive kick?

We never really got a chance, as an audience, to appreciate the fact that when the Doctor meets Donna, it's the worst day of her entire life, and no one (including the Doctor) cares about that. Cares much about her. She's alone with that, right up to the credits.

I considered it to be huge points in her favour, then, that she adapted to the situation as well as she did. And the insight she had into the Doctor at the end - not just the, "you need someone to stop you," line, but realizing that he IS scary. And not just a thrill ride. (THAT side of Donna you see a lot more in S4.) She's right, after all, that she has good reason to be terrified. She's not REALLY as dumb as toast! ("Runaway Bride" mocked her and implied as much, I think, so that the audience was complicit in laughing at Donna up until the reveal of the plan for her. It makes the cruelty sting that much more.)

I honestly think her character brings a more honest perspective to the show. Not everyone is going to walk the earth or stare into the heart of the TARDIS. She's just one normal human, but she manages to stick with the Doctor even when it's nearly beyond her to try.

I admire her immensely for that, see. It's one thing to be brave when your character is (a) hero. It's another when you're just the "plucky sidekick," to quote this week's ep.

Well, I only saw that one episode! I don't think we were supposed to like her, really.

Yeah, that was a horrible day for her, and she dealt with it amazingly well, really. I did admire her for that.

I appreciate your comments. I think they will help me adapt to her more quickly than I did to Martha - though the year's space since losing Rose might help, too.

It's not like I think he should have only One True Love his entire immortal life. That would be silly, when he has so much time, and this enormous, maybe infinite capacity for love. But no matter how many people you love, there's only one of each of them, and losing any of them is a real loss, and deserves to be grieved. And the Doctor does grieve, and he's been through this before and he knows if he loves he will go through it again and he feels it deeply - it would just be weird for him to jump right back in to something he knows will hurt.

I am actually not sure what I'm trying to say. Maybe I will like Donna! I don't know.

No, I think the whole thing might have been written more carefully if they knew then that Catherine Tate was coming back. But really, they set her up to be unusually unsympathetic, since the Doctor DOES save her.

Edit: Okay, I never edit comments...but what I meant by the above paragraph is that yes, I agree they didn't try to make her a likeable character so much as a comedic one. Sorry, I thought I might not have been clear there.

And...feel PERFECTLY free to ignore my shippy insanity on this one. I don't ship Ten/Donna because I think they love each other romantically, or anything. I mean, I do agree that the concept of having an OTP for the Doctor is quite silly. But this isn't even about "loving them all."

I ship Ten/Donna because I'm a PERVERT and I think they'd be a hot shag. :P

And I didn't notice that icon.

Yes, please, that alien can abduct me any day.

And if he wants a snog, I'm ok with that, too.
