I've been realizing the past few months that I use way too many commas. WAAAY too many.

*kicks extra commas around*

Okay, nearly everyone's had something to say about the new posting restrictions.

My comments: c'mon. Big deal. Apparently, the free users will be able to have 5 posts a day, rather than 3, and that seems perfectly reasonable to me. I almost never post as much as 5 entries a day, and I'm paid - actually, I'm paid at the moment courtesy of [livejournal.com profile] unintentional. (For now. I'm not sure what I'll decide to do when it runs out again. I'll come up with something. Maybe by then, we'll have PayPal.)

Nothing about this seems unreasonable to me at all. If you post more than 20 times a day, you need to get over the fascination with one-liner entries and get on with your life.

You know what DOES worry me? That Brad mentioned possible restrictions on comments in the future, or on length of posts.

Comments worries me - not necessarily for myself, because I'm really bad for comments (*sheepish*) - but that sort of restriction would be the kiss of death for communities like [livejournal.com profile] debate.

What REALLY bothers me is the idea of restrictions on post length. How reasonable would that be? I don't post that many separate entries, but some of my posts can get long. I just don't like the idea of that being restricted - sometimes you gotta say what you gotta say. And if you hit a limit on posts, you could wait 24 hours, but if you hit a limit on length, you'd have to split your entries up, or something.

Raise your hand if you LIKE TV shows that finish with, "To be continued..."

I agree with you about the limit on posting. I really don't understand why people think this is unfair.

It would be unfair, I think, to limit comments and/or length. Especially length. I'm not too worried about it yet.

And, I love commas! Use more! ;)

I'm with you all the way. I don't see any problems with a restriction of 5 posts a day, I've never done that many and I hate people who do a billion one-liners a day. Fills your friends page with fast-food type entries - instant gratification, no happy feeling.

Commas? Try elipses... much more annoying imho...
I'm totally inundated with them...
But, I've never noticed you having any problem with commas. ;)

I agree with the 5, I guess. *shrugs*
but 20 seems like a bit much. Maybe... I dunno.

Comments would be awful, unless it was, like 50 a day... and length would be terrible, too.
Except they already do limit length. I know that some of my comments and such have been too long for LJ, and it wouldn't let me post until I went back and cut it into parts.

*shrugs*

Oh, and *shrugs*.... I do that too often, too...

geez... I don't know where you buy fast food, but...
I get *happy feeling* Big Time!! :)))

Then, of course, I get *bad feeling* and *remorse*
and *guilt* and *self loathing* followed by *gradual acceptance*
*blaming others* and *righteous indignation*,
and finally, back to
*happy feeling!!!*

;)

Sorry, that was kind of stupid. :P

Yes, it makes sense to limit length on comments - after all, if you have that much to say it MIGHT make more sense just to make a separate post, depending. It would make loading the comments page incredibly slow if people could write limitless comments. I mean, it's faster to load several smaller comments than one big one, right?

As for 5 allowed posts...or 20...that makes sense for a personal journal. But there are issues when that starts including comm posts, as Brad wants to. I mean, if you mod several communities, that could put you at a severe disadvantage.

Apparently, it's now been upped to 50 for paid users, or something. I could be wrong, though. *shrug* (See? You're not the only one.)

*huggle 'n snoggle*
