Sep. 11th, 2002 11:54 pmThis is DISGUSTING.
I mean, not all of it - some I can live with - but a large portion.
The ones at the bottom REALLY bother me..."Dead Men Don't Whine,"...."Another Man For Violence Against Men."
What...the...fuck?

Date: 2002-09-12 12:27 am (UTC)I wish people would just stop saying "Feminism is equality" and the people who *are* feminists who are really for equality would come up with a new name for themselves so Feminism could mean "In radical support of all females, against males" just how chauvinism is for males instead of "Feminism is equality while chauvinism is patriarchial domination". I'd prefer for it to be clearer so we could have two extremes and a center ground, better known as equality.

Date: 2002-09-12 09:56 am (UTC)that's impressive. it's also rich in historical context, which makes me look at it and go, 'interesting...' although i must say i find myself unable to take them seriously enough to feel threatened by the violent buttons... which is kind of interesting because i think part of their point is that they want to claim the ability to be feared, but i mostly find myself feeling a bit sorry for them... (pondering the varying implications of buttons such as: "Dead men don't whine." "Dead women don't whine." "Dead don't whine." "Dead white people don't whine.")
i also am amused that some of the anti-pornography buttons are, in fact, replicating pornographic images on them... kind of counterproductive.
huh.
on the other hand, i must say that i'd rather the fringe groups find their own names for themselves and leave 'feminism' for us people who actually are invested in working toward a society where women (and, by extension as occurs after you start to think about it, men and people of all races and ethnicities and class backgrounds and ability levels and etc.) have maximum self-determination.

How about, instead of killing off all men or women, we just kill of all ignorant and close-minded people? Eh? Sound good?
