I just finished watching the taped game between the U.S U-19 Women's Soccer team, and the Canadian's U-19 team. World Championship.
Dammit, lost 1-0! In the second Golden Goal (sudden death match), too!
Oh, well. The Canadians made a good showing.
It was strange to watch, because it was a lot like watching my old soccer team. Oh sure, the Women's U-19 team is BETTER - a lot better - than us, but they have the same holes. Strong defense, but their offense looked lost. Dammit, they weren't making runs for those 50-50 balls! Arrg. I kept wanting to yell, "Get in there! Make those runs! Put the pressure on, for bob's sake!" at the TV screen, but Dad would have laughed at me.
Speaking of the defense though....steller defense by keeper Erin MacLeod! Wow! Truly amazing saves there, that girl is a hero.
And....I know this is traitorous, but...va-VOOM, keeper Harris for the U.S team. *drools*
And the U.S...Fletcher's showboating! Jeez! That was something else.
Heh, there's LOT'S of good reasons to watch women's soccer! There's a reason, there goes another...*snicker*
It was sort of disappointing, though, to not have anyone to watch the game with. Hmm, the guys liked watching women's hockey all right, maybe next time they'll come to my place for soccer matches?
