Weirdness.

There is a guy at summer school who also went to my high school. I don't know him, but I recognize his face. He came up to me the first few days of school, and asked me if I'm a friend of Roach's.

Now, Roach is/was another tech at school, so I know him, but I couldn't say we're exactly fast friends. Still, I had to say something, so for simplicity's sake, I said yes. And he gave me the man-nod.

You all know what the man-nod is - guys give it to each other all the time when they see someone they recognize, but with whom they aren't friends with. It's that single, deep, respectful nod. I think at some point in the past couple of years I've actually practiced the man-nod.

So I was prepared to give him one back, thank bob. And we spent a good deal of man-nods on each other over the next several days.

Then one day last week he popped into my comp lab at break. I learned the first day that since I know no one at Chinook College, it's pointless for me to go on break. I see no real point to break at ALL actually, except to grab food and a bathroom break, but then, people like to mingle.

I was at sitting my computer surfing the net. I had nothing else to do in class because I was (still am) so far ahead, it's not even funny. He came and peered over my shoulder. "Hi," he muttered. "Whatcha doin'?"

I informed him I was surfing the net, although that was fairly obvious. Trying to build some student camaraderie, I joked that I was supposed to be working. (On what at that point, bob only knows.) He noddeded. "Did you want something?" I finally asked.

"No," he said, and with that, wheeled and ran out of the room. I haven't seen him until today.

He sat down beside me on the bus today. And completely ignored me.

Weird, this kid is. Weird, weird, weird.
