TODAY'S ACQUISITIONS:

Fandom

  • ONE (1) COPY OF DEATHLY HALLOWS, YEEEEEAAAAAH!
  • Three (3) HP magnets: one general with stylized "HP" initials, one Hogwarts crest, and one Gryffindor house crest.
  • One (1) fabric Gryffindor house scroll.

...Yes, the cashier smirked at what an enormous geek I am. DEEP DOWN, I AM TWELVE. AND NOT THAT DEEP.

Knitting

  • One (1) ball of cheap, crappy Red Heart yarn. (It's called "Surf & Turf." It's actually a fairly nice blue/brown multicolored yarn which happens to be squeaky 100% acrylic.)
  • Two (2) sets of cheap, crappy Red Heart translucent colored acrylic needles - one set is U.S. 8's to U.S. 10½'s and the other is 11's to 15's. (Tiny pictures here.) THEY IS SHINY AND PRITTY COLORS. Okay?
  • One (1) set of normal-human-being U.S. 8's in nice, bland grey. Because that's the size I'm working the most with right now. (Actually, that's the only size I'm working with right now. But nevermind.)
  • Two (2) sets of point protectors. I live in terror of my stitches dropping off those slippy cobalt blue aluminum needles Mom lent me. (Well, I don't really, but you know.)

I'm nearly finished my fourth square (in stockinette; I wanted to see it roll!), and since I've basically used up that ball of the multicolored stuff, Mom was going to start me on some washclothes. (She actually wants me to start a scarf - she seems anxious for me to do a larger project, as if that will guard against my ever escaping the craft - but I'm pushing for the washclothes because I will learn increasing, decreasing and yarn overs.)

In between though, I decided to get some similar yarn to do MORE SQUARES. And my own needles so I can work on square washclothes and squares at the same time.

I'm officially crazypants.

Completely Random

It's really not worth a list: some magazines, some candy, a bottle of water, AND (I can't believe this was in the checkout line) the LEGO Star Wars game for PS2.

I mean, really. How can you pass up Lego frickin' Star Wars? LEGO.

And that's it. I will not be online much for the next few days, because I need to read a book, hang a scroll, and knit a crapload - among other things.

Maybe if you knit with the acrylic yarn and the acrylic needles fast enough, you'll generate enough static that you can use the needle to add to the realism and enjoyment of the new book.

Of course, you'd have to lose the stitches, and therefore nullify the advantage of the point protectors. You'd also have to face your stitch dropping fears, but, hey... fear is what the later HP is all about, isn't it?
