It's a video! I am so not going to try to load that. Can you say what it's about?

It's an official White House video, completely safe.

It's a home video that the White House has made for Christmas. And it's very...well. You'd really have to watch it.

I'm not saying it isn't safe, I'm saying it's streaming video and doesn't work here. I did try... maybe I can get the whole thing to save. Would take a while, though.

My bad! It's a home video that the White House made of their pets, basically. "Where in the White House is Miss Beazley?" (A dog.)

Most of the White House staff "acts" in it. Hard to describe, but some parts of it look like they might if someone was making a parody. That's what's weird about it. Like Bush stops dead in the middle of all of his lines. And someone (can't remember the name) says, "I can't help find Miss Beazley! I'm busy leaving no child behind."

It's bizarre.

It's all good! Although I see the point was still missed.

Sometimes we word things badly, or really DO need to be called on privilege, I'd agree with that... I have a problem with the magnetic way the members of [livejournal.com profile] feminist zero in on what they are most comfortable discussing. If you want to make other points, ZOMG PRIVILEGE! That's why you can leave openly racist comments in that community, but you can't say "loony."

Catwoman chaps my ass in particular though, for other things she's said. So I enjoyed the opportunity to tell her to pull her head out of her ass.

Can I just say that I'm SOOOO glad someone's calling someone out on the "privilege" accusation against [livejournal.com profile] chreebomb? That is some inane sh!t, as per the last post in my LJ.

*hugs you*

And catwomanwhatever totally didn't understand your point. AND THIS FURTHER PROVES WHY THE OP (MY COMMENT) WAS RELEVANT! That's exactly what that whole 300+ comment mess is supposed to be about. Pushiness, attention-whoring, cliquishness, whatever != privilege!

And yet catwomanxxx "gets it." Um, no... She OBVIOUSLY doesn't.

It's so disgustingly ironic I could eviscerate myself. Not to mention...

This: http://www.livejournal.com/users/karnythia/401710.html?thread=3217454#t3217454

But clearly everyone "gets" privilege. There haven't been two more-or-less unchecked displays of it in the past day or so. Oh, no...

*stabby*

Heh.

I just noticed the subtitle of the journal is "A place for civilized discussion." ROFL.

So she came back with class and ability privilege. For posting mostly free or very inexpensive resources? Assuming people in that community can do at least ONE of the following is not a sign of "privilege":

1) Read something for free on the internet.
2) Buy a book for likely no more than $1-5.
3) Take out a book for free from a library.

Yes, a small percentage of people can't easily get to a library or get a loved one to get it for them. Most of those people can choose to buy the book via the web. Of course, some of them cannot afford to. Then they can choose option #1.

Some people don't have enough money for a book (although the chances that they won't be able to afford $1-5 are slim). They are only able to access the internet because they are acessing it a LIBRARY. So that should solve that problem.

Give me an f'in break! Unless I missed something, these people are grasping at straws and totally misusing the word privilege to deflect from very real privileges, which-- once again-- was the entire point of the post.

Yes. Clearly, Chree has loads of privileges comparable to white or male privilege. *eye roll*

Yeah, I'm in the middle of getting back to that mess.

I read the thread that eleventyteen left in your journal, and my eyes rolled out of my head.

While, generally, the women here are privileged enough to find and understand this information, some of them are not. How many women in this community have learning disorders? Do you know? That would be ableism. How many can sneak a peek at a livejournal community while working, but have neither the time, nor perhaps even capacity, to sludge through something with words like "intersectionality?" That's ableism and classism.

OH MY GOD. My brane hurts.

And not to mention...

Black people. See, the thing is? Like, a lot of them are poor and stuff? It makes me so sad, really... Plus, a lot of them don't know, like, "proper" English. :( So, like-- that's white privilege!

Did you see this?

http://www.livejournal.com/community/feminist/2265044.html?thread=60969172#t60969172

While she could theoretically have a salient point, "stop seeing white girls as real people?" That's where she lost me. Not to mention that she was still finding a way to downplay the fact that black-on-white rape is notoriously OVERREPORTED (although it's certainly relative, in context). She was all over the use of the word b!tch in Chree's post, though. But there's no privilege problem in [livejournal.com profile] feminist.

P.S.

Sorry. But what [livejournal.com profile] lavendertook said was pretty inaccurate. Her OP had links to my journal, not another community that was going to be "derailed." WTFever. *eye roll* After today, I'm not even thinking about this BS...
