FEMA Prison
Sep. 11th, 2005 04:16 pmI've been sick recently (yes, AGAIN) and spent most of yesterday in bed, sleeping like I was saving up waking hours for winter or something. I keep trying to get on to post some Katrina coverage, and keep falling on my face on the way to the 'puter. I have a bunch of stuff saved up in private entries to post "when I'm not exhausted," and it's largely old news by now.
However, I think this is well worth posting, as it's relevant for the next several months to come:
Conditions in a FEMA Detainment Camp.
These people are essentially going to be TRAPPED for the next five months (unless they want to walk out with virtually nothing). They're only going to be able to have two meals a day (what the fucking hell? how is this acceptable, to only feed people twice a day, and they're STILL turning away food?), they can't have milk (what about the children? what are they going to be given all day, Kool-Aid?), and they don't seem to be concerned about making sure that there are enough tampons and such for the women. (Which leads one to think of much more disturbing implications...what about birth control? What about needed medications? What about basic health care? How are these things going to be dealt with?)
And if I'm reading this correctly, they will not be allowed to even have FRESH FRUIT AND VEGETABLES.
For FIVE MONTHS.
If ANYONE doubts that race is playing into this, just direct them to this link, and the repeated statement that
"It could cause a riot. You don't understand the type of people that are about to come here."
