Some links I picked up today:
From
griffen, via
asperger: Alternative treatment of ADD.
Can I simply say that I'm tired about hearing about all the "miracle" diets, herbs, and wondrous technology that is supposed to treat or "cure" ADD? I wouldn't have such an issue with this sort of thing if it wasn't thinly disguised anti-Ritalin propaganda.
It's true some people have bad reactions to darn near any drug, but there's such an unneeded backlash against ADD meds in general. It makes it incredibly difficult for the people who BENEFIT from these meds to get them, and unfairly stigmatizes adults who give their children meds, adults who take them, and ADD in general.
Also from
griffen: Slackers are the hardest workers.
I want to strangle this person. Obviously, this ISN'T someone for whom procrastination is an on-going, life-long, and daily struggle. I discovered this same opinion in a book about underachievers, and I threw it across the room. It suggested that if someone is procrastinating, and floundering as a result, all help should be pulled out from under their feet. I just love the suggestion that I do what I do because I like to challenge my able brain.
Fucking eat me.
griffen again, via someone-or-other: A lovely time suck. You're a square, find like others. Gay squares!
From
blackfolk: A woman who lost her hair due to relaxer. WARNING: There's a photo to accompany this story, and it's fairly graphic.
From
queereye: The Fab Five make over some Red Sox - and repair a Little League field at the same time.
I'm so annoyed by the focus on Carson Kressley constantly hitting on men. I mean, I know the guy plays it up to the fullest extent, knowing it'll get attention, so it's really a mutual fuck-over. (The news makes Kressley look silly and one-dimensional because he apparently only thinks about sex, and the journalists look silly and one-dimensional for focusing on something so stupid.)
I mean, I know it's a defense mechanism, but I really wish Kressley would assert that he's more of a person than that.
From
gaystr8alliance: Transfolk have their own concerns about health care.

Hey ...
Date: 2005-04-04 01:13 am (UTC)OK, an LJ cliche - I like reading your journal. I think you're amazingly smart, and very creative! I wish I was as openly creative at 20 as you are now. I think I have a tiny something that holds me back - even now. Anyway, I'm just getting into interacting on LJ (had a few friends on my list but took them of), which is why I've started visiting communities of interest. I'm not 'adding' randomly, because I really want journals that will give me something so I don't stop reading out of sheer boredom (other than I can't really afford to waste time collecting journals!). Soo... you know what's coming right? I wanna know if it's cool for me to add you and to post in from time to time.
I'll wait for your response before doing anything. 'Yeah you!' for being you as difficult as it must be (certainly seems so!).
Dx
Re: Hey ...
Date: 2005-04-04 03:35 pm (UTC)I don't see much creativity here, but thank you very much. (Not fishing, I just really don't know what you mean.)
You're certainly free to add me, and I'll add you back. But I'll warn you, I'm super busy with school and work right now, so I'm not the greatest commenter, and I'm not posting much. But yeah, anyone's free to add me as they wish. :)
Cheers!
