Dec. 22nd, 2005 12:28 amSo...I had a pretty mediocre day at work. Some shitty customers, but it was slow. Christmas is killing my finances, ho hum. Very blah day.
I opened an email from my photojournalism instructor this morning - ( o rly? )
After firing my pictures off (with the note that I know he really can't mark them, but I wanted to send them anyway - and I mean that!) I idly thought maybe I'd check to see if my grades are up. I didn't think they would be - last year it took weeks.
But they were:
JOUR 307 Copy Editing: A+
JOUR 309 Publication Layout & Design: A
JOUR 310 Newswriting III: D
JOUR 311 Feature Writing II: B
JOUR 319 Web Writing and Design II: A-
JOUR 322 Special Project I: B-
PHOT 304 Photojournalism for Reporters: D
PRAC 334 Print Media Practicum I: A
Current Term GPA: 3.03
...Those are all my classes. Meaning...
I PASSED EVERYTHING!
The two "D" classes and the Special Project class (actually the Weekly Albertan) are the classes I was most worried about.
The B- on the Weekly is the result of me making desperate/emergency appointments with my instructors in the last two weeks to get assignments that would save my grade.
The Photo class, obviously, would not have been an issue if I'd gotten those last assignments in. So my GPA would be higher if it weren't for that...but I refuse to be bitter. I PASSED, dammit!
The Newswriting...please note that my grade does NOT reflect my news-writing abilities, it reflects the fact that I just barely finished more than half the work in the course. (Actually, that applies to all the writing courses...where it's less than an A, I handed in something late or not at all.)
But I passed, I passed, I passed! And my GPA is higher than a 3.00 (unlike last semester), which means I might just have a passing chance at university. w00t!
I won a scholarship, I got a raise to $8.50 an hour, and I passed. Plus, I will start medication treatment soon. (But I forgot to pick up my report from Dr. Y's office, so I need to call her and tell her just to mail it instead.)
I'm okay with life again.
