Lazy day like that Enya song

Slow day around here today. We were supposed to get to cleaning the basement today (yuck), but we never got to it. Because we meant to clean while the cleaner-carpet dude cleaned the carpets. But that didn't happen, either - he didn't come.

And why is that? Because his equipment froze - he left his van parked outside. He put it in the garage this morning, so it will be thawed out tomorrow, but that means I have to get up at the same god-awful hour I did this morning. Poo.

And his equipment froze because WE HAD A HUUUUUGE FUCKING SNOW STORM!

Nic went outside and measured the snow drifts. We have somewhere between 10 and 20 inches, depending on where you place the yardstick.

So I've spent most of the day reading my new Stephen King book, Dreamcatcher. Honestly, I'm so used to his gimmicks by now, noticing them intrudes on the story.

And I don't read his books for the "scare" at all. I read it because I think he has a fairly interesting take on people and human nature. Some of his best work was with things like Rita Hayworth and the Shawshanke Redemption.

I think he should try writing something that's not horror again. I think he's better at that, really. Shameful waste.
