...So, for a very long time, I've been resisting my parent's suggestion that we get another cat to keep our ginger tabby, Tiger, company.
I insisted that my reason for not wanting another cat was that it's Tiger's home. She shouldn't have to share and defend it. It's HERS. When we had to cat-sit another cat named Casper once, I'm not sure who was more upset, me or her.
Actually, I know it was me. She whupped his ass occasionally, and mostly ignored him. It was me crouched at the top of the stairs, baring my fangs and growling.
So, if I was TOTALLY honest, it's not Tiger I've really been thinking about when I said I don't want another cat. I don't want another cat in MY territory, MY domain. I grew up with Tiger; I was a wee thing when we got her skinny butt from the pound. She is some sort of feline mother to me, and child, too, that is mine to protect. We have a bond.
But I am an adult now, and this...IS...MY...TERRITORY!!!!!
RAWR!
But. *sheepish look*
