May. 23rd, 2002 12:09 pmI'm sorry if this is long, but I really don't want to put this behind the cut tag.
So this morning was the grad ceremony. I got my fakey piece of paper, and I must say it's a damn good fakey piece of paper. It says Dan, so I think I'll keep it and chuck my real diploma when it comes. *laughs*
I couldn't really feel like I was celebrating, though. Could anyone? We still have final exams to go...I still have that summer course before I have all my credits.
I had to pee all the way through. What fun, spending your whole grad ceremony thinking about how you have to use the toilet. :D
Cindy's valedictorian address was the BEST. She was so amazing; she always has been. Things she said at the assembly at the beginning of the year are still with me.
We had a pastor give a speech, too. That was not as good. He seemed to spend the entire time lecturing us. The first mistake he made, I think, was to tell the parents how this day was a "victory of parenting." Excuuuuse me? My parents had a part in this, yes, but who did most of the work getting here? ME. Memememe! Sheesh. And then he told us all how "the world doesn't need anymore 25-year-old children" and "you have RESPONSIBILITIES", etc.
*strangles pastor*
Ugh, WE KNOW THAT, but this is our day to celebrate w/o worrying about any responsibilities for at least 24 hours.
And while he was talking about the "choices" we have have in life, and how not all of them are good, and how we need to live our lives so that our future children will be guided, etc, I kept thinking....that he must be thinking of those common life mistakes that lead our children astray...like drugs, crime, and homosexuality. --_--
I guess this has mostly been focusing on the negative but really, the ceremony was a lot of fun. Oh, and the band was great.
One more time, goodbye Kevin. You are missed.
