Okay, my touchy-feely theory:

Does anyone ever feel that we (FTMs) say "dude" more than bio guys do? It's kind of hard for me to tell, but I think so. Personally, I feel like I take such delight in doing "guy" things, like it's been building up for years. Bio guys don't have that build-up, they take being a guy for granted. Also, bio women take it for granted that they're women.

So, basically, my theory is pretty simple. It makes sense to me that MTFs feel the same way about finally being women, probably a lot more so, b/c there's more of a social stigma in being a "sissy" than a "tomboy" (yeah, we've all heard that before, but I think it makes a noticeable difference.) A site I visited a while ago that was created by an MTF said that women are really lucky b/c they get to have lives that are emotionally richer. I had no idea what she was talking about then...emotions, bah. But I think I may be starting to understand what she means.

It seems as though this MTF thing about always expressing emotion in what they write, etc. is a result of not being able to do that before, and there's been a build-up, so it just keeps going like the Energizer bunny.

I know, logically, that I will always be a guy, but something inside of me keeps saying that I need to make up for what I missed, and I need to get in all I can in case something "happens" in the future. Same thing, I guess. Bio men and women take for granted that they will always have the opportunity to express their gender, but I'm sure a lot of transsexuals don't feel that certainty.

And that's pretty much it. Just a few thoughts. I don't mind all the "peace, love, happiness" vibe I get from Dana too much, but geesh, I wish she'd stop sending me smiley faces! lol.

i've noticed that, too.

i think it also has something to do with being proud about finally being able to identify as a guy, and so they like to use masculine-identifying words like "dude" in order to continually bring attention to the fact that they are guys. it's hard for me to explain.. do you know what i'm trying to say? :)

Definitely, I do. That's very true. I like to say words and phrases that mostly only guys say. Part of that is that saying things like "dude" feels right in a really viseral way.
