"This guy's so GAY!"
Oct. 18th, 2002 08:52 pmWe had our first props crew this afternoon-evening. It was fairly uneventful - we just pulled rehearsal props.
We got to meet our designer, who turned out to be quite the flamer. I wouldn't say he's HUGE flamer (haha, I'm thinking of
johnnyboysriot here!), but he's pretty flamboyant by Albertan cattle-and-oil country standards.
Hell, he even had the lisp. I always go with the assumption that any speech impediment has NOTHING to do with sexual orientation, but it DOES add to the whole impression.
Nick is on props crew as well, and he's...well...I certainly wouldn't say homophobic, but he's definitely got more of a sexual antenna than some of the guys, and acts as though he takes some casual kidding around just a bit more seriously.
So watching his reactions to Robert (our designer) was QUITE amusing. He would do a little double take every time Robert fluttered his hands. It got so that I was laughing as I watched Robert, because I was anticipating Nick's reaction. Then I was laughing at Nick's ACTUAL reaction. I'm surprised no one commented on me sitting in the corner giggling to myself. At one point Nick even leaned over to me and whispered, "Oh my god, this guy's so GAY!" as if I couldn't see that for myself. *snort*
...The funniest ever was when Nick gradually began to mimic Robert - very subtly. I'm pretty sure Nick wasn't even AWARE he was doing it. Every time Robert would waggle his head around, Nick's head would wiggle ever so slightly. Yes, I had my amusement for the day.
I might also mention I got my air filter mask today. It's black plastic, and it has about four gazillion straps. Then it has big filters the size of my palm that screw on the sides. I look like a SWAT guy in it. Plus no one can hear me through it, so it's quite a pain in the arse.
