So I'm having this issue.

I'm still thinking about "furries." (You see, I have no life whatsoever, and it's that or listen to Britney Spears. But I digress.) I decided the other day that it would be a fun project to "pick" an animal for myself...no particular reason, I just thought it seemed like a fun idea - no offense to anyone.

I thought it would be a fairly simple undertaking. After all, I figured, I KNOW I gotta be a cat, right? Right! So, now all I gotta do is pick the kinda cat! No prob! Right? Riiiight.

First off - not a tiger, 'cause tigers be BIIIG, and Danny not be BIIIIG. Nope.

Danny = smallish 'n light (for a guy)

So, okay, no big cats. And I don't think domestic cats, for some reason. That leaves small wildcats, of which there are limited types. And some small wildcats are even smaller than domestic cats (i.e. 3 pounds, some of 'em!), and I don't wanna be REALLY small...so...

I've basically settled on bobcat. Which would be purfect, if it weren't for one weensy detail - their stubby-wubby tails. I mean, there is not a single medium-sized wildcat that is cute (by my standards), doesn't purr, and has a normal length tail anywhere in the world! Edit: Reconsidering my "cute" standards...

*breath*

But, lo and behold, a coincidence...whoring around lj I happened to stumble across this post on this exact topic! Wild!

Yeah, so I feel sort of stupid, 'cause now I'm obsessed with this or something, but whatever. I'm going to bed because it feels like my eyeballs are bleeding.

So let me get this straight.

You're not a fur, but you stumbled across them, and now you're casually interested and thinking about picking out a species, but you're not sure which represents you.

You're my new best friend. :P

Ha, that thread is amusing. But don't ask me about you, I haven't got a clue. An amimal that's intelligent, that's all I know.

What Kind of Cat Are You?

Unfortunately, I think the results are limited to domestics. I'm a persian, evidently.

I got persian, too. Weird, I really don't think so.

Y'know... I felt the same way. "Who? ME??" was my response.

I would have picked a big orange talkative tabby who was rescued at a very young age by a young and hunky gay guy.

That discussion has pretty good advice abut just sorta going with it, and picking what feels right... It sorta helps to have a resource, though, expecially if you wanna be something fairly specific and somewhat out of the ordinary. :o) You might wanna look here: http://animaldiversity.ummz.umich.edu/

And just off the top of my head, might I suggest looking at caracals and servals? :o)

Good luck!

Thanks for the link. Although I'm sure my family won't appreciate it. *chuckle* They're already sick of me spending hours browsing throught wildlife trust fund sites.

Caracals, oh my god....look at those ears! ^_^ That's something else.

Then there's snow leopards...if I was complaining about bobcat's stubby tails, you have the other extreme there, with tails over a meter long.

Anyway, I think I'm about to give up for a while...

I've always wanted to be an animal, a tiger to be exact. I've always loved half-human half- animal creatures *nods*

Tir' reports...episodes of aphasia, wherein he is unable to decode spoken language.

Yikes. *huge eyes* Heh, I don't think I'd like that very much. I mean, I'm often quite verbose. But I got that that is very extreme.

I don't think that article is exactly for the faint of heart....I think me mommy'd be freekin' by the time she got half-way through reading that. But then, she's the one who made a face when I casually mentioned BDSM once. *shrug*

Actually, so would most of the people I know...it strike me that I'm odd.

Heh, yeah, that's a bit of an extreme case.. I actually talked to the author of that article, and he expressed some concerns about putting that in, too. It could be considered a mental health problem.. Of course, I think other people get the same sorts of effects in their own ecstatic spiritual experiences, too... In any case, yeah, that's not at all the norm. And you're probably not gonna start having that happne just because you're interested in furry stuff. ;o)

The article is a bit up-front, yeah, but I figured people here wouldn't freak out too much. <:o) Hopefully I was right..

Well, I wasn't concerned...just a comment. I just like speech very much. Actually, I'm well-known (with some people) for giving speeches. *laugh* Yeah, just a comment.

I'm not sure I can give you a toaster, though.
