New Poem

I poem I just wrote, as yet untitled (any suggestions?)

If I were to write
a poem
about the prejudice
and harassment
I face
every day,
it would be hard

without using large,
alphabet-block words
like trans
sexual
and gender
identity
that interrupt the
cool flow
of a river
of poetry.

So,
if you wouldn't mind
my splashing
in the water
can I ask
What the fuck are you staring at?

I wrote that at 3:15 exactly this morning. I knew I'd just hate myself if I forgot it by morning. I'm glad no one was there to see me in my p.j.'s (inside out, as it happens) with my hair standing on end in a bed-head mow-hawk, while I searched for a pen in my disaster of a room. (I am cleaning it!)

i think you've got some interesting talent there in poetry, its nice because it could be used to talk about a lot of other things like racial hate and stuff, very interesting.

I'm afraid I don't know much about racial hate first-hand, being almost completely white, myself (on my mom's side there's a little bit of Cree) so I don't think I have any authority to write about it. Heck, I don't even have much second-hand experience with it. I tend to write about stuff that affects me immediately - "Write what you know" - otherwise, it's crap. But I know you write Lester, so why don't you try it?

Yeah, pretty...I'm of the opinion good poetry should sound nice. (I didn't mean I write about flowers, rainbows, or kittens, dude, if that's what you're thinking. Blech.)

well i've grown up all my life as an azn, don't plan on switching, i've also (sorry about the genrealization but its reasonably true) a lot of american ignorance towards canadians. and so i know a great deal about it

though nothing compares to the racial hate directed toward azns.

Thanks a lot. I love hearing feedback on my poetry. Everyone seems to like this one. Or it could be that...tons of people absolutely loathe it, and they haven't bothered to say so b/c they're so disgusted. Heh.
