Christmas-related stuff
Dec. 27th, 2003 02:17 amYou know what, I fucking hate shopping for a Christmas tree every year. I know they're grown just for Christmas and all, and I'm sure the fake ones must be bad for the environment, or something.
But I can't stand the smell. To me, it smells like the trees are weeping, and I always start crying while the rest of my family is picking through them. "Oh look, this one's not too tall, and it's very green!"
During Christmas shopping, my mom and my sister and I ate out at Moxies. I decided to only order stuff that had the little "vegetarian meal" leaf beside it, just because. So I got nachos with this spinach dip, and spinach salad. (Is it obvious I adore spinach?)
Well, the dip sucked, and the salad had...bacon...on it. Which wasn't listed on the menu.
Um, okay?
My dad got us a PS2 for Christmas, and the DVD set of that TV series Taken. If you can rent it or something, I highly recommend it, because so far we think it's excellent.

Date: 2003-12-27 01:37 am (UTC)everytime i go out to eat I inspect my plate for meat.
I always double check my burger to make sure its not real etc.
lol. If I had ordered a vegetarian dish and they brought me bacon i'd have been so pissed. I swear to god.
I am such a passive person, but I swear.
Kathy was looking at me weird cause when they brought my burger I had to take the bun off and look at it, and then I had to cut it in half to make sure it really was black beans.
and then we were talkinga bout what would happen if I accidentally ate a peice of meat.
at this point its been so long since I ate meat and I'm so freaked out by meat, It would pretty much go like this.
*picks up burger and takes a bite*
*realizes it's real meat and not fake*
*makes a horrified face and spits it out and starts screaming and crying*
*then proceeds to shake and yell at the waiter/waitress*
*runs to the bathroom and washes out mouth and crys and shakes some more*
*yells some more at waiter/waitress and leaves*
*trys to sue the place*
lol
I know it too.
I'd obess over it as well. cause I'm crzy like that.. I don't know how I got this way but I know thats what would happen.
anyways the point is.. since when the bloody hell is bacon vegetarian? lol
I swear to god if anyone ever puts bacon on my plate they are gonna wish it was them in lil bits and not some poor pig.

Date: 2003-12-27 02:36 am (UTC)We put up our artificial one this year, and if we ever want to have a "real" one again, we'll decorate the one growing outside our back door, next to our shed.
We were going to decorate it this year with all "bird-edible" ornaments that we were going to make, but we ran out of time/energy.
Sorry about the bacon. We get that problem all the time. I'd have sent it back, but nicely, because that's about all you can do.

Date: 2003-12-27 09:40 am (UTC)As for the trees, A few years back, My mom and Iwent tree shopping on Christmas eve, and, well, we ended up with a display model artificial. It's worked ever since. I think we want a fiberoptic tree now because Runty, youngest kitten, chewed through the wire of the lights this year in a matter of less than one day.

They're not too much more than a regular fake tree. I've seen them around 6 1/2 feet fibre optic for about US$129.

Date: 2003-12-31 11:57 pm (UTC)I've been struggling with the vegetarian thing since I was a kid.
I tried to go vegetarian in high school and my grandparents grounded me till I ate meat.
Then when I was married I tried to go vegetarian twice and my ex husband was all about the "mmm look I got chicken. mmm doesn't it smell good"
and when you first go vegetarian the will is oh so weak. lol
my advice, if you are realy serious about going vegetarian.
don't do it all at once. and remove one or two meats at a time but don't just stop all together at once.
I used fish as a transition meat and it helped alot.
Cause at first you feel kindof deprived. LIke you ar emissing out.
once you get used to it you don't anymore but at first you do. thats the hardest stage.
once you get used to it, you don't care anymore and you can't imagine going back.
at least it was that way for me.
