We rented movies this weekend. They're good movies so far, but they're also depressing.

First, we watched Ghost World, which depressed me utterly yesterday because it is the story of my life, to a T. The main character, Enid, just keeps fucking everything in her life up. One fuckup after another...and then there's how she treated Seymour, the geeky older guy who likes her. Ouch. Watching this movie was like getting everything that's wrong with me and everything I've fucked up so far thrown in my face. It hurt.

Then tonight, I popped in Edward Scissorhands. I expected it to be weird, because everyone comments on what a strange movie it is. I didn't expect to identify so completely with Edward, but I guess it makes sense that I do, since I know what it's like to be stared at like that. I also loved the focus on how Edward's hands can create beauty but inspire fear.

It just made me reflect on how many people ridicule, pity, fetishize, fear and hate what they don't bother to understand.

So I've been wandering the house in this strange funk I can't seem to shake.

I have a physics test tomorrow, but I have absolutely no desire at all to study.

Edward Scissorhands is like one of my favouritest movies of all time! I haven't seen it in years, but it was just one of those movies that I adored for simply being artistic, unusual and just plain escapist! I must buy it one of these days...

Edward Scissorhands is an amazing movie. And not just because I want to fuck Johnny Depp...
