For anyone who hasn't seen it yet (and I apologize to those who have to see it twice):
Marriage Protection Week - A Proclamation By the President of the United States of America.
The agenda behind this is obvious, of course:
Marriage is a union between a man and a woman, and my Administration is working to support the institution of marriage by helping couples build successful marriages and be good parents.
Nice spin, ain't it? Combining the concepts of good parenting and successful marriages with the idea that only men and women can marry.
So, of course, I feel compelled to post contact info for the White House.

Date: 2003-10-07 09:53 am (UTC)less than half of the population here is socially liberal when it comes to politics. Or, if that's not true, maybe it goes like this:
About half of the population is liberal, but the half that is conservative votes like hell! I mean... they're so so sooooooooooo conservative that they go to every single election to try to vote against every single tax thing, and, while they're there, they vote into office people exactly like Bush.
The liberals tend to be a little more laisse faire about life, about politics, and even about voting.
That's our big problem.
The sum of it is, though, that it's crap exactly like this that's going to keep Bush in the white house. (blood red stained with the green of money house, if you ask me.)
