All I want - all I want is to come on here and relax.

And lj has a new format? With no sidebar? I liked the fucking sidebar. It was mentally soothing. I liked the sense of balance I got from that side of the screen, y'know? Now I can't find shit!

I FUCKING HATE THIS NEW LAYOUT!

And why is the font so tiny?

Edit: THANK YOU GOD!! I can fix it!

I'm glad you figured out that you can change it. :)

I don't like that layout, either, but it is beneficial in the sense that it is easier for people with vision / other handicaps to access the website. Give and take, I guess.

*general confusion*

Vision handicaps? I noted the font was reeeeeeally tiny.

Or are you referring to some aspect of the layout I wasn't aware of?

*shrug* i think it's purdy. I used to beta this layout back when.

They listed the goals of the new skin on the front page, and one of those was "more modern web markup (important for accessibility)". It's not what you see on the page, but the markup (or the code) that makes it easier for people with vision handicaps to see (such as when you mouse over an image and it tells you what it is of).

The font is really tiny, that's one of the reasons I didn't like it... it's like, point 8. That seems ridiculous for a "major" website to have.

Hmm. I've heard it's using a lot of CSS, though?

Oh, it looks very "clean." I just tend to freak when people change things on me.

That, and I REALLY like sidebars on the right. If I can move a sidebar to the right, I will.

Yeah, I think so.

I'm not sure, specifically, how it is better to access, because I don't use any of the special features that they've implemented.

At first, I didn't think it seemed very functional, not having the side-bar and such, but I realize that some people just get annoyed by that bar. [shrug]

*nods* Yeah, for some reason, people don't like sidebars. Beats me, I like stuff on the screen to be somewhat shifted to the right.

I prefer bars to be located at the right, or the top. When desiging my own pages, I usually put the options/bar on the right. :)

Understood. Yeah, there are a few things I don't like - the icon situation and the weird popup menus come to mind - but I'll get used to it. But it's good that they still allow for the old style. No matter what LJ does, some people are gonna be pissed. ;-)

I don't really understand what the "markup" means... but, on my computer at work, the font was really really huge.

I think the screen setting is 640X480 or something...
Here at home, the font is the same as before, for me... so I think it means that people can use their own browser to mess with the fonts much easier, so that they can see them. I'm sure there's some way you could set yours so that the font isn't so small, if you wanted to try the new layout.

I actually kinda like it, but [livejournal.com profile] haleth hates it.

I set it back to the old default, so not a problem. ^_^

There's a really easy and smiple trick that you can use when faced with tiny fonts (one that so many people ignore and hence balls up their pages for the rest of us). If you're using IE simply go to the "View" menu and then to "Text Size". I don't know for sure but I'd say there's something similar in most other browsers too.

*nods* Sometimes, that doesn't work. For example, the font on someone's journal if they have it set to something specific.

But yeah, for things like reply-to links and stuff, it should work.
