Dear Mr. I Think My Piss is Perfume,

You are everywhere. I see you everywhere. You go by many names, in many different bodies, and somehow, I always just miss responding to you.

But that's okay, because I'm sure nothing I could say would influence you in any way. After all, I belong to the under-22 set, and am therefore nothing but a poor, confused kid. I'm a baby FtM, and I don't know what I really want because I'm too young. You should know, because you are oh-so-wise, and all your buddies tell you so.

And I guess I'm not, because I'm not one of those people who actually believes age to be that big a factor in whether or not someone knows who they are and what they want.

I know what I want, thankyouverymuch, and I'm not going to have to wait until your exalted age of - what are you this time? 25? how chronologically advanced! - to know it. I've known since I was 10, and I discussed SRS with my 5th grade teacher. Does that qualify me? Can I scream, "I'M MORE TRANS THAN U! BEST BE RECOGNIZIN', BEEOTCH!" now?

Fuck you. It's people like you that make me want to vomit. I hate you, more than even the assholes who are elitists about what surgery they're getting. You're no better than the people who tell their gay kids when they come out, "you're too young to know."

No, idiot, we're not.

I don't need more therapy. I don't need to blow more money on assholes with embossed pieces of paper on their wall. I need that money for SURGERY, so I can stop putting MY LIFE on hold.

I don't need to be supporting the standards of care. I think they exist to cover the asses of the so-called medical and mental health "experts," not to actually help trans people. Not to actually do what's best for their mental health.

But hey, don't listen to me. You already don't. If only we didn't have to share a planet, then I wouldn't have to listen to YOU, either.

I couldn't agree with you more about the "standards of care." Like you've pointed out in the past, they let anyone with money get tails surgically attached to them, or any of a number of different body modifications equal to or even far exceeding SRS. (no offense to anyone who has or wants to do this) But they treat SRS different, because they're afraid.

They're afraid of lawsuits, of parents, of judges and lawyers, and of idiots of the ilk you mention, just to name a few. It's all "CYA." As I'm sure you've noticed, very little of it is actually useful to you.
