Yeah, I'm a genius

Well, I think it's ready to go.

ATTENTION, ANNOUNCEMENT - ahem, ahem, ANNOUNCEMENT

I just set up this second journal with a code someone gave me a while ago. (Which kinda sucks that I just found it, because I have a friend who needs one, but I'm getting another one for her - blah, blah, long story.)

I decided to write movie reviews in it. Just because I like movies and kinda always wanted to write reviews, so I figured I'd just give it a go on my own. So I have a journal for it now.

I wasn't sure whether I wanted to keep my mouth shut about it or what - it's mostly for my own private amusement. But I'm a feedback whore. Oooh, so torn. So I decided, hell, I'll announce it anyway.

I currently have ONE review up for MIB II, and I'm in the process of writing one for Princess Mononoke - which if you haven't seen you should, because it's a beautiful little gem. One of the best animated movies you will ever see. It's out on video now, so I will try to post info on where you can find it, as well as writing the review, if anyone is interested.

And I'm not going to be writing anything even remotely close to how [livejournal.com profile] danielray reviews movies. We're not that deep here, folks. If I ever sound like I'm echoing Ebert, well that's basically the idea. (It's not too original either.)

So if you want to see ANOTHER review for MIB II, go see the review in [livejournal.com profile] progeny666. I will likely be writing reviews long after the movies come out because that's when I get to see them, but hey, I always thought it was more fun to read the review AFTER you've seen the movie.

omg i loved princess mononoke. i loved the way the main character totally rejected the idea that one side had to be right and the other wrong.

now i want to go watch it again.

oh why oh why do i not have enough people in my life who will watch cartoons with me?

**GASP**

It's ANIME! It's an ANIMATED FILM.

But it is NOT a CARTOON! Respect, please, you're about to view art!

Yes, but I agree about Ashitaka not picking a side. The dubbing and voice work in that film were SENSATIONAL. Oh, if only they could play things like THAT in main theatres instead of MIB II. *makes a face*

*snarl*

He insists calling this beautiful piece of work a "cartoon." As if it's Itchy and Scratchy.

Hon, I think I hate you now.

(No, I'm not serious.)

*grin*

i'm reclaiming the word cartoon, like reclaiming the word comics.

Itchy and Scratchy is in the same medium as Princess Mononoke--they are obviously not of the same caliber. Kind of like how Tommyboy and The Secret of Roan Inish are both movies, but you could hardly compare them. And the latest Sidney Sheldon piece of trash and The Bone People are both books, but not even in the same realm.

comics include:
Moonshadow
Punch and Judy
Stuck Rubber Baby
Hothead Paisan

cartoons include:
Akira
My Neighbor Totoro
Watership Down
The Last Unicorn (cheesy 70s music aside, it couldn't help itself)

:P

:)

Sigh. I'm too tired to argue the point.

How can you call works of art such as: My Neighbor Totoro and Princess Monoke cartoons? They aren't which is why if you go into the movie section they come under a different catergory. That is evil Cartoons are the filth that (Exception: X-men Evolution, Family Guy, and Simpsons) America produces to brainwash children into thinking things can happen that won't, They have no point and are hardly ever funny.

I like Idol Poject *If anyone finds that for me I'll orgasm all over their face* and actually those other two I mentioned are the next on my favorite movies list. Then for series Saber Marionette J and Vampire Princess Miyu. Hehe

OMG My Neighbor Totoro is one of my favorites!! I also love Kiki's Delivery Service, also by Studio Ghibli. Haven't seen Princess Mononoke yet, but I will now!!
